[MicroPets logo] For immediate release MicroPets Macro Fun No more than four centimetres high, MicroPets pack a huge punch into a little package. These pets run, sing and giggle - all with no feeding, no walking and no grooming. The latest interactive toy from Tomy, MicroPets are micro sized, lovable pets that move, communicate and sing by responding to void commands. The amazing technology that brings MicroPets to life will provide children with a toy that offers complexity in its play - nothing like a toy that bamboozles mum and dad to keep kids interested! MicroPets' eyes light up and their ears wiggle while they run, walk, zig zag and turn around. They also sing, groan and giggle - all on command. There are over 18 different commands and functions, and three different personality moods you could find your pet in. And when they get together, the MicroPets play, sing and interact with each other. Each MicroPet series will be limited and never, ever repeated, so each and every set will become a special collectable. There are 10 different Micro Pets to collect in the limited edition launch series, including four monsters (Yuk, Gak, Bob and Kuda), two dogs (Sprocket and Moshi), two bears (Kuma and Bongo) and two cats (Chumsley and Mango). Micro, lovable and very, very smart, MicroPets are available from leading toy and department stores with a recommended retail price of $24.95. Suitable for children ages six to 11 years. - copy ends - For further media information: [Redacted] [MicroPets logo] Media Backgrounder MicroPets Major US Sales Success When first released in the US, more than 3,000 MicroPets were sold in just three days at once location - Toys R Us, Times Square, New York. The Toys R Us store hosted an event to launch MicroPets with Mr Verne Troyer who played Mini Me in the Austin Powers movies. Mr Troyer is another favourite who is light on statue but huge in the popularity stakes - making him a perfect partner to MicroPets. While the toys are targeted at younger children, most of the sales were made to those aged between 15 and 20 years - perhaps as gifts but just as likely for themselves as collectables. The limited edition MicroPets launch range is now expected to sell out quickly, increasing its value to collectors. And with a huge number of people purchasing two or more MicroPets at a time, their collections are already well underway! The most popular pets were 'Yuk', a red and green monster, 'Sprocket' a perky Dalmatian puppy, and 'Bongo' the white bear. So it seems that while these toys might be tiny, they are set to have a major impact in Australian toy stores. - copy ends - For further media information: [Redacted] [MicroPets logo] Media backgrounder Micro Magic The secret of MicroPets is Tomy's Magic Voice Response System, which recognises the words spoken to the toy. Each MiacroPet responds to a combination of commands. For example, when playing with a MicroPets named Kuma, it will cheerfully run when you say, "Kuma, run!" When you say "Kuma, let's turn around!, Kuma recognises this and turns around and starts to walk. And when you say "You're a good pet...you're a very good pet," Kuma will laugh, giggle, and happily acknowledge the praise. But these pets are just like the red-blooded variety - they too can have bad moods and be a little recalcitrant. When you keep repeating the same command over and over; such as telling your MicroPet to run again and again, the Pet gets tired and annoyed. Eventually, he becomes upset and wil not obey further commands. Natually it's easy to get back in his good books with a little praise. Tell him "You're a good pet...you're a very good pet!" and he will spring back to happiness with a cheerful little song. Another exciting function of MicroPets allows them to be directed via handclaps - five claps will entice your MicroPet to sing a song. And if you collect all the MicroPets, they will play, sing in chorus, and interact with each other! When you ignore a MicroPet's cry for attention she will fall asleep and begin to snore - an auto power off function designed to conserve battery life. - copy ends - For further media information: [Redacted] MicroPets Micro Media Kit
